Pack a picnic and grab some friends for an enchanting evening at the Magic Gardens Museum! Experience a live performance by Hamoon, a Persian ensemble who will mesmerize you with their music, and visit our art tables to create botanical watercolor art with artist Erin McGill! Inspired by Isaiah Zagar’s work participants will make a watercolor mosaics using tape, botanicals and lace as a resist, layering them into paint to echo the fractured, intricate surfaces found throughout the space. No previous watercolor experience needed!

Attendees can also enjoy self-guided tours of our rarely-seen mosaicked basement, and can view our exhibition, “Viviendo a través de la muerte: Obras de Ivette Chaires/Living Through Death: Works by Ivette Chaires” in our galleries.

ABOUT THE MUSICIAN:
Hamoon is a Persian music ensemble in the diaspora. Established in 2018, a gathering of friends and music lovers grew into Hamoon, an ensemble dedicated to bringing communities together to create meaningful moments through nostalgic music of their homeland.

Featuring Setar, Violin, Guitar, Daf, Tombak, Cajón, and vocals, Hamoon performs nostalgic traditional and contemporary Persian music.

Since its formation, Hamoon has performed for Persian cultural communities and participated in charitable events supporting underprivileged children. Beyond performing music, the ensemble believes in the power of community, connection, and collective action. Hamoon brings people together with the belief that everyone can contribute to making the world a better place—and that even the smallest steps can make a difference.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Erin McGill is an illustrator, author, and teaching artist based in New York City. Her process-based practice invites exploration and play, weaving together textiles, collage, and DIY printmaking with an eye for pattern and texture. She brings that same spirit of hands-on discovery into every workshop she leads.
