PECO Family Jams: Snapshots

Event Description

Isaiah Zagar, creator of Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, often makes artworks that feel like pages from a journal or snapshots of a day in his life by transcribing newspaper articles or letters for prints,  building collages out of photographs, painting portraits of his family and pets, or embedding memories and quotes in his mosaics.  Join us in making works on paper inspired by this autobiographical approach. PMG will provide a photograph of each participant which can be transformed with paint, pens, stamps, and imagination. 

See examples of Isaiah’s own works on paper in “Laying the Foundation,” an exhibition which looks at five properties that Isaiah and his wife Julia have transformed into total works of art over the last six decades, and join us for free tours of the fully mosaicked basement at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 pm.

PECO Family Jams are PMG’s one-of-a-kind, family-oriented programs, featured every second Sunday of the month between noon and 4:00 pm. Crafts and basement tours are included with regular admission to PMG. Purchase your tickets in advance.
