Event Description

Isaiah Zagar, founding artist of the Magic Gardens, is best known for his mosaics but he was also a printmaker. While studying art at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn Isaiah became interested in print making and worked in a studio. He later created religious themed prints at a monastery, collaborated with woodblock printers in India, and made a series of 150 etchings with master printmaker Cindi Ettinger in Philadelphia.  Today we will make our own prints with Philly-based artist Noelle Barrett, using an easy-to-engrave foam plate, a ballpoint pen, and rich block printing inks.

Examine Isaiah’s woodblocks during free tours of our fully mosaicked basement at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m.

PECO Family Jams are the Magic Gardens’ family-oriented programs held on the second Sunday of every month between noon and 4:00 p.m. Crafts and basement tours are included with regular admission. Purchase your regular admission tickets in advance.
