Event Description

The Magic Gardens Museum has many valuable partnerships. Their long-term success is rooted in a shared belief that art can have an uplifting, even transformative effect. PEACE – an outpatient program at Horizon House that emphasizes psychosis education, assessment, care and empowerment – is one of our most appreciated partners. Every month, Ashley Hewlett brings young PEACE participants to make art with our Educators. Hewlett encourages participation through gentle questions and her own joyful eagerness to experiment and create with any material we offer. Today, Hewlett brings her talent and enthusiasm to our public art-making program. Join Hewlett in transforming a cigar box into a treasure chest through decoupage (decorating with paper cutouts). Feel free to bring photographs or other special pieces of paper you want to include.

Learn how art has helped Isaiah Zagar, creator of the Magic Gardens, navigate mental illness during free tours of our fully mosaicked basement at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m.

PECO Family Jams are PMG’s family-oriented programs held on the second Sunday of every month between noon and 4:00 p.m. Crafts and basement tours are included with regular admission to PMG. Purchase your regular admission tickets in advance.
