PECO Family Jams: Astrological Animals

Event Description

This month’s crafting program is inspired by the exhibition In Unison: Ceramic Sculptures by George Rodriguez, on view in our galleries until September 10. In Rodriguez’ series “El Zodíaco Familiar,” the artist looks at Chinese zodiac through a Mexican lens by creating large-scale ceramic animals that are native to Mexico. Rodriguez then invites other artists to adorn his sculptures. Today, visitors will decorate wooden animal forms in their own distinctive style, and leave with a unique keepsake.  

Join us for free tours of our fully mosaicked basement at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 pm to learn more about the presence of Mexican arts at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens 

PECO Family Jams are PMG’s one-of-a-kind, family-oriented programs, featured every second Sunday of the month between noon and 4:00 pm. Crafts and basement tours are included with regular admission to PMG. Purchase your tickets in advance.
