Everyone’s favorite after-hours program is back for another season!

Come spend a magical evening at Twilight in the Gardens! Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket, snacks, and drinks to picnic in our space and enjoy an entrancing performance by Indie Folk artist Kristin Daelyn in our courtyard. Over at our craft tables Teaching Artist Lara Bedewi will lead us in a craft where participants will have access to a variety of beautiful, hand-carved stamps featuring symbols, patterns, and motifs representative of Arab culture. Using these stamps, they will decorate their own notebooks and bookmarks with different colored inks. On the tables there will be art books providing visual inspiration and cultural context for the activity. Everyone will receive their own blank notebook and hand-cut bookmark and will be able to decorate them with the provided stamps– a fun and useful keepsake!

Visitors also have the chance to learn more about PMG through fun, casual self-guided tours of our mosaicked basement, and can check out “Threads of Transformation: Works by Krista Dedrick-Lai and Margaux McAllister” in our galleries.

Space is limited so get your tickets when they go on sale on May 10!

ABOUT THE MUSICIAN:

Philadelphia indie folk artist + fingerstyle guitarist Kristin Daelyn is rooted in the comfort and simplicity of folk – weaving threads of intricate guitar with intimate storytelling to create a tender world of nostalgia and introspection.

With fingers dancing gracefully across the strings, her fingerstyle technique is a delicate balance between technical proficiency and emotional expression. Each pluck and strum serves as a brushstroke, creating vivid sonic canvases that resonate with the essence of her wistful voice. Daelyn’s poetic lyrics are carefully crafted and invite listeners to immerse themselves in intertwining themes of love, longing, nature, and the depth of human experience.

ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST:

Lara Bedewi is a first-generation Arab-American filmmaker and multimedia artist. She is based in Philadelphia, and has a mixed Palestinian, Lebanese, and Egyptian background. In using a variety of visual media, Lara’s work explores themes of vulnerability and belonging through the lens of culture, ancestry, and community. She has worked with a number of cultural and artistic institutions including The Arab-American National Museum, the Arab Film and Media Institute, BlackStar Film Festival, Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture, and Philadelphia Film Society.
