The 2018 season of Twilight in the Gardens is in full swing, and July’s event is keeping the momentum going in a big way!
Mixed People is a funky, soul fusion band with hints of rock and world music, otherwise known as new age funk. They’re a Philadelphia-based band, founded by guitarist, Paulette Branson, in August 2012. Other band members include: Bird Williams (keytar and vocals), Pierre Nix (percussion and vocals), Terrence Jones (bass), Sunny Dee (drums), Kayla Brewer (saxophone), and Jakeya Sanders (vocals). The music is progressive, and the energy and emotion behind this band will get you dancing on your feet and singing along!
Teaching Artist Caroline Oddo is a Philadelphia-based artist and musician, and long-time staff member at PMG. Her illustrations focus mostly on the wonderfully average moments in life – the moments between moments.
For this month’s activity, Oddo will get your imagination going with unique paper dolls. Create yourself, a friend, or someone who inspires you, and then dress them up with the different fashionable retro clothing options! Googly eyes, glitter, markers, stickers, beads, and other miscellaneous items will help you dress up and give personality to your doll – or use popsicle sticks to turn it into a puppet!
Visitors also have the chance to learn more about PMG through fun, casual mini-tours of the space and can check out the Outsider Inspirations exhibition in our galleries.
All Twilights are a BYOBBS event (Bring Your Own Booze, Blanket, and Snacks), and guests are encouraged to relax and picnic in the space.
