Grab your friends and pack a picnic for an enchanting evening at the Magic Gardens Museum! Experience a live performance by Tre. Charles, who makes music that feels suspended in time – somewhere between memory, confession, and dream. Rooted in soul yet unbound by genre, his work drifts through atmospheric textures, raw emotional crooning, and intimate songwriting that lingers long after the music fades.
At our tables we’re going to rethink what a collage can be! Join fine artist Eustace Mamba for an evening of tactile experimentation, where we will push the boundaries of traditional flat mediums into the realm of three-dimensional art. This hands-on workshop invites you to experiment with innovative assemblage techniques. By combining mixed media, found objects, and the unexpected element of machine sewing, Eustace will demonstrate how to build texture, depth, and narrative layers into an original artwork. Whether you are a seasoned maker or a curious experimenter, you will leave with a unique collage that challenges the conventional limits of canvas or paper.
Attendees can also enjoy self-guided tours of our rarely-seen mosaicked basement, and can view our exhibition, “Entre Raices y Alas/ Between Roots and Wings: Works by Santiago Galeas.”
Tickets will be available starting July 10!

ABOUT THE MUSICIAN:
Tre. Charles (Durham, NC) is an Alternative/Indie Soul artist whose emotive vocals and genre-blurring sound have earned national and international recognition. Raised in transit along the East Coast, his nomadic upbringing exposed him to a wide range of cultural and musical influences, shaping a style rooted in soul while pushing beyond its boundaries.
Drawing comparisons to artists like Sampha, Hozier, and Thom Yorke—and echoing the influence of Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers, and Lauryn Hill—Tre. Charles creates immersive, atmospheric records built on layered harmonies and introspective songwriting. Pitchfork contributor Brian Howe describes his sound as “stretched and shifted vocal harmonies” with cathedral-like reverbs, resulting in a listening experience that is both calming and deeply absorbing.
His growing reputation is backed by industry recognition, including a nomination for Best R&B Artist at the Carolina Music Awards, a win at the Richmond International Film Festival, and being named “the future of music” at the NXNE Festival in Toronto. He has also received brand support from D’Angelico Guitars and Supro.
A seasoned live performer, Charles has appeared at major festivals including Newport Jazz Festival, Hopscotch Music Festival, and the National Cherry Blossom Festival, and has shared stages with artists such as Digable Planets, The War & Treaty, Lo Moon, Yasmin Williams, Jalen Ngonda, Arrested Development, Fantastic Negrito, Tank and the Bangas, Bartees Strange, Son Little, Cedric Burnside, and The Dip. His performances are known for their intimacy and emotional depth, translating his recorded sound into powerful live experiences.
His releases Currently. (2023) and Here We Are. (2025) earned coverage from NPR, INDY Week, Wonderland, Notion, and Rated R&B, with Here We Are. landing on NPR affiliate WNRN’s “Top 100 Albums of the Year.” He has also been featured on CBS and NBC.
