Santiago Galeas‘ figurative paintings fuse identity and ecology, challenging traditional approaches to landscapes and portraiture in “Entre Raíces y Alas.” In this body of work, Galeas depicts first-generation and immigrant queer Latinx Americans in an inventive world that bridges the landscapes of Latin America and North American. Through this imagery, Galeas explores themes of gender, sexuality, immigration, diaspora, and the liminal spaces between them, inviting viewers to recognize the power and presence of queer and trans individuals in portraiture.
