Join us for an electric evening Twilight in the Gardens!
All Twilight in the Gardens events are BYOBBS (Bring Your Own Booze, Blanket, and Snacks), so bring your supplies and picnic in our space! This month you will delight in a lively performance by Damon ‘Mr. Dizzy Fingers’ Bennett in our mosaicked courtyard. At our art tables artist Jihan Thomas will help us create Compassion Collages, where we’ll adhere fabric and textiles to a small mirror. These mirror collages will encourage softness, grace, compassion and acceptance when receiving our reflections in the mirror.
Guests also have the opportunity to learn more about Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens through casual self-guided tours of our mosaicked basement, and can view “In Unison: Ceramic Sculptures by George Rodriguez” in our galleries.
ABOUT THE MUSICIAN:
Damon ‘Mr. Dizzy Fingers’ Bennett is a flautist, keyboardist, producer and composer hailing from Philadelphia. In the 1990s he helped shape the sound and vibe of the budding underground hip hop and neo-soul movements at local jam sessions. His talent and versatility did not go unnoticed and has amassed a wide range of musical credits on stage and in the studio, including: Jill Scott, The Roots, Jay-Z, King Sunny Ade, King Britt, Maysa, Gerald Veasley, Timbaland and Jeff Kashiwa.
As a part of the house music production duo, Steal Vybe, Mr Dizzy Fingers has worked with some of the most respected names in the genre, such as: Lady Alma, Sara Divine, Louie Vega, Dawn Tallman, Byron Stingly, Lifford, Stephanie Cooke, and Darryl D’Bonneau.
In 2021 Damon produced and co-wrote the singles: “Thankful,” “This Moment” and “Elevation” for the rising smooth jazz artist, Carl Cox’s debut album, “Thankful,” and his 2022 single, “Risk.” He also co-wrote “I Don’t Mind,” Maysa’s first single of 2023 with Bluey of Incognito and produced it as well.
