We look forward to welcoming you to the Watkins Street Studio!
The Watkins Street Studio is located at 1002 Watkins Street, Philadelphia. We strongly encourage walking, biking, or public transportation as parking is extremely limited. If you choose to drive, please leave yourself ample time to find street parking before the start of your tour.
Please meet by the glass garage door on Watkins Street between 11th and 10th Streets. Your guide will open the door ten minutes before the start of the tour and close the door once the tour begins, so late arrivals may be denied entry.
There is no A/C in the building, so please dress comfortably. There is a single stall restroom on the premises. We encourage visitors to come prepared with their own water bottles as there is no water fountain.
The entire tour will take place indoors and will last for 60 minutes, followed by some time to look more closely and explore on your own.
The tour will take place only on the first floor of the building. Most of the first floor is accessible for wheelchair users and others who need stair-free access. Please be advised that there is a concrete lip at the entrance of the studio, and the restroom does not meet ADA standards.
We ask that you refrain from touching or leaning on any of the artwork (including all of the mosaicked walls, passageways, and all the objects sticking out of them) to protect both the artwork and yourself. Many of the objects in the mosaics are fragile and one-of-a-kind, and a lot of the tiles and mirror have sharp edges.
We allow casual photography for personal use or social media. Tripods and selfie-sticks are not permitted to help us protect the artwork.
Please call 215-733-0390 or email info@phillymagicgardens.org with any additional questions.
