Event Description

Our current art show “Viviendo a través de la muerte: Obras de Ivette Chaires/Living Through Death: Works by Ivette Chaires” includes portraits of Magic Gardens’ founding artists Isaiah and Julia Zagar, and their friends – as skeletons! Mexican artist Ivette Chaires uses a traditional papier-mâché technique called cartonería to capture each person’s mood, posture, and unique style. Explore this remarkable show, then use pasta and pebbles to bring your own skeletons life.

Learn about the Julia Zagar Residency for Women Artists and the Zagars’ lifelong work with Folk Artists around the world during free tours of our fully mosaicked basement at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m.

PECO Family Jams are the Magic Gardens’ family-oriented programs held on the second Sunday of every month between noon and 4:00 p.m. Crafts and basement tours are included with regular admission. Purchase your regular admission tickets in advance.
