PECO Family Jams: Mosaic Medallions

Five jar lids on a dark blue background are filled with brightly colored grout. The grout is embedded with beads, googly eyes, neon colored fish gravel, seashells, tiles, glass, sequins, and other colorful things. The artworks are surrounded by a pile of loose materials like those used in the grout.

Event Description

The mosaics at the Magic Gardens Museum are made of thousands of interesting pieces held together by colored grout (a mixture of sand, cement, and water).  Today, we will make mini-mosaics inside jar lids using beads, tile, mirrors, and recycled items. Join us for our most popular craft and take home your own handmade souvenir.

Learn how Isaiah Zagar made the mosaics at the Museum during free tours of our fully mosaicked basement at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m.

PECO Family Jams are the Magic Gardens’ family-oriented programs held on the second Sunday of every month between noon and 4:00 p.m. Crafts and basement tours are included with regular admission to the Museum. Purchase your regular admission tickets in advance.
