Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens (PMG) demonstrated its Philly pride on August 15 in a bigger way than ever before, with its sixth annual summer festival ART/GAGE: Celebrate Philly Creativity in collaboration with Night Market Philadelphia.  Over 37,500 people attended, making it the largest Night Market to date!

Night Market Philadelphia is a program put on by The Food Trust, a nationally renowned non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food and information to make healthy decisions.

The festival covered eight blocks of South Street and accommodated more vendors, performances, participating community organizations, and a diverse audience, creating an even more exciting environment for a street fair. Artists on the street had interactive exhibits for visitors, and included Intuitive ExpressionsOasis Art CenterMeei-Ling NgThe Clay Studio, and Sarah Whitt.  Samantha Hyman of Bujee Magoo, and the Rabble Rousers NYB Band roamed the crowds and generated excitement.

On two stages, festival-goers enjoyed the beats of Circadian RhythmsNight PantherNorwegian ArmsStrand of Oaks,Casey AlvarezHappy AccidentNew Pony, and The Late Ancients.  Emcees SFrosty and Flip got the party started and kept it going all night!

During the festival, PMG was open and offered guided mini-tours, cool beverages, and hands-on tile activities in its glittering mosaicked space. Special mini-tours took place every half-hour and give a “taste of the gardens,” providing visitors with behind-the-scenes access and great tidbits on founding artist Isaiah Zagar and his methods. Visitors even cooked up their own tile masterpiece as a souvenir to take home with them!
