Adam Crawford: Eyes on Many Sides
On View: July 3 – August 30, 2020
Opening Reception: Friday, July 10, 2020; 6:00 – 9:00 PM
Street artist Adam Crawford is known for his colorful swirls, intense patterning, and surrealistic imagery. His murals are a product of “stream of consciousness” design, which are directly drawn from brush-to- wall and painted to fit the environment they inhabit. Eyes on Many Sides will showcase a mural made by the artist alongside a series of his paintings on wood and skateboard decks. Crawford’s works are made with acrylic and spray paint and feature radiating mandalas, geometric shapes, and fanciful creatures from his psychedelic world.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Crawford references street art, graffiti, and tattoos. He then integrates his own imaginative stylizations to transform our city’s landscape, making his work distinctive, contemporary, and uniquely Philadelphian.
A graduate of both the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the University of Pennsylvania, Adam Crawford’s work has been exhibited at Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York, and has worked on projects with Paradigm Gallery + Studio and Mural Arts Philadelphia. Recently, he completed a series of public art works in the South Street area, including the completion of the bike rack murals in front of Whole Foods Market and Tattooed Mom, installations in Woodrow’s Sandwich Shop, and a mural on the side of American Mortals on 5th and Bainbridge Streets. He has also been featured in various publications, such as Streets Dept., Wide Walls, and Hi Fructose Magazine. Crawford is a prolific artist who paints every day and manages to fit skateboarding in between project deadlines.
Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens and Adam Crawford invite you to the pay-what-you-wish opening reception on Friday, July 10, 2020, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM.
