Take a look at the wonderful work created by participants in past Tile & Grout Projects!
Southwest Leadership Academy Charter School, 2013
Southwest Leadership Academy Charter School serves Southwest Philadelphia and focuses on leadership fundamentals. This project taught the seventh grade girls to create a mosaic mural, and then allowed them to teach the methods to first grade girls. The group completed a mosaic mural about the story of The Rainbow Fish in their all-purpose room.
Congreso de Latinos Unidos is a nonprofit that serves Latin American audiences in North Philadelphia. A wide range of students and volunteers of all ages worked together to create this bilingual mural in their reception area with the theme “Mi Casa Es Su Casa” The work reflects many elements of their community, including the neighborhood’s Bloque de Oro.
George W. Nebinger Elementary School, 2013
George W. Nebinger School serves students in the Queen Village and Bella Vista neighborhoods, where PMG is also located, but has no dedicated visual arts teacher. Tile & Grout allowed students in the autistic support program and eighth graders to work on an outdoor mosaic at the school building at 6th & Carpenter Streets. This project focused on the Delaware River Estuary in conjunction with a larger project that is adding green features to the school.
