PMG’s creator Isaiah Zagar includes hundreds of Mexican folk art objects throughout the Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a significant celebration in Central and Southern Mexico that begins on the final day of October. In preparation, families honor their departed loved ones by decorating sugar skulls. Today, teaching artist Nora Hiriart Litz shows us how to use colored frosting to decorate sugar skulls we can take home.
Visitors can learn more about the Mexican folk art included at PMG during our family friendly tours at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
PECO Family Jams are PMG’s one-of-a-kind, family-oriented programs, featured every second Sunday of the month between NOON and 4:00 PM. All PECO Family Jams workshops and activities are FREE with admission.
