Event Description
While Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens is not anything like a traditional garden, we are thrilled by the arrival of spring when we can bring PMG’s plants outside to blossom among the mosaics. To celebrate the season, we are joined by Pennsylvania Master Naturalist Leslie Gale of Bartram’s Gardens, a 50-acre public garden on the banks of the Tidal Schuylkill River in Southwest Philadelphia. Leslie is bringing us her ever-popular Carnivorous Plant Roadshow.* Explore the fascinating world of Venus flytraps and pitcher plants which lure their prey through mimicry, trickery and surprising patterns. Meet some soil-enhancing critters and make a cardboard carnivorous flower to brighten up your windowsill.
*Unfortunately, Leslie Gale’s Carnivorous Plant Roadshow will not be joining us for Family Jams this month. We will still have a lot of fun making our own versions of carnivorous plants.
PECO Family Jams are PMG’s one-of-a-kind, family-oriented programs, featured every second Sunday of the month between NOON and 4:00 PM. The program will include hands-on crafts and several mini-tours of our fully mosaicked basement. No reservations are required for PECO Family Jams, but admission tickets should be purchased in advance here.
