2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Isaiah Zagar, creator of Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, has a very unique and, some say, liberating method for creating mosaics. In this special two-hour workshop for teens (11-18) and their adults, we will explore techniques used in the Zagar Method. Participants will examine Zagar murals on and off site, prepare and create materials, and make a mosaic.
You will learn how to cut glass, break tile, work with clay, mix grout, and lay out a mosaic to take home (along with some other special handmade elements). This workshop will empower you and your teen with mosaic-making skills and inspiration for future joint-created endeavors.
Tickets are $40 per teen/adult pair. Please be aware that we will be working in a space that can only be accessed by stairs.
This program is part of the Near Time: Teen and Adult Workshop Series, a collaboration between the Fabric Workshop and Museum, the Clay Studio, Made Institute, Second State Press, and Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. Art-making workshops will be led by a different organization every Saturday at 2 p.m. between February 26 and March 26, 2022. All workshops are open to teens (11-18) and their adults at $40 per pair.
Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens is offering one scholarship for this workshop on a first-come-first served basis. If the cost of this program will cause financial hardship and you would like to be considered for the scholarship, please contact email@example.com.
