Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens (PMG) seeks an Education Intern for Summer 2020. The Education Intern will assist the Education and Outreach Manager with developing hands-on activities, implementing activities and programs, and leading interpretive tours and gallery talks.
- Assisting with programs featuring hands-on activities, including PECO Family Jams, Garden Party, and outreach events
- Leading interpretive tours of PMG and neighborhood murals
- Planning hands-on activities
- Assisting with general interpretation throughout the space
The ideal candidate is an undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in education and the arts. The candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work on projects independently. The candidate will be flexible and adaptable, possess a warm and friendly personality, and enjoy interacting with visitors and teaching people of all ages. The candidate must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. A background check and child abuse clearances will be required of the successful candidate.
The Education Intern will receive a stipend of $1,000 and may also use the internship for college credit.
The internship will require 8-16 hours of work per week and run from approximately late May-early August. Dates and hours are flexible, but the intern should be available the second Sunday of each month and either Wednesday or Friday.
