Mosaic Workshops

Pre-NCECA Two-day Mosaic Workshop with Isaiah Zagar

March 29-30, 2010

Isaiah Zagar has created over 100 public mosaic murals and countless mosaiced panels, both in his home city of Philadelphia and around the world. During this two-day workshop, Zagar will instruct students on all aspects of his craft, including his methods and creative philosophy. Students will participate in a hands-on mosaic project, assisting Zagar in the creation of a large mural from conception to completion.

Over the course of the workshop, Zagar will teach his unique methods of breaking tile, cutting mirror, gluing tile, and grouting. Students will also receive a short manual detailing Zagar's method so that they can utilize the skills taught in the workshop in their own art and community projects. Finally, students will have the satisfaction of contributing to the creation of a permanent public mural in Philadelphia.

Date: Monday, March 29 through Tuesday, March 30, 2010 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: Meet at Philadelphia's Magic Gardens, 1020 South Street
