| Advocate for the Arts in Pennsylvania!
On May 6th, the Pennsylvania Senate passed a bill that eliminates funding through the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA) and the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC). These funds are vital to many PA organizations!
The bill has not officially passed through the PA House of Representatives, so you have a chance to be heard! Visit the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance at for more information about how you can help. |

Glittering Fun in the Sun: Walking Tours of Isaiah Zagar's Mosaic Murals
Saturdays: 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Sundays: 4 p.m.
May 16, 2009 - September 13, 2009
$12 per person (includes all-day admission fee to PMG)
Take an hour-long walk into alleyways along South and Bainbridge Streets to view the glittering creations of Isaiah Zagar! Led by a Philadelphia's Magic Gardens interpreter, you'll learn detailed information about Zagar's technique, and hear the personal and community stories depicted in his large, shimmering murals.
Starting this Saturday, PMG invites you to weekend walking tours of Isaiah Zagar's neighborhood mosaics! Tours will occur on Saturdays at noon and 4 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m through mid-September. Join us for one of these special tours where you'll visit rarely seen mosaics in the neighborhood and hear the stories that helped create them. During the tours, we'll explore a myriad of murals along South and Bainbridge Streets between the 4th and 10th blocks. Tours will discuss the materials, techniques, imagery, and stories of these artworks, while incorporating pieces of local Philadelphia history.
Interested participants are urged to book in advance since tours will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Walk-up tour admission will be accepted but space is limited to 20 people per tour. To book a tour or for other inquiries, contact Ellen Owens, PMG Education and Outreach Coordinator, at 215.733.0390.
