May 2008
Dear Friends,
It's officially spring and things are blossoming here at the Magic Gardens. This Sunday, May 2, we hope you will join us for a fund-raising event that we will host for Watershed, a ceramic center in Maine that has residencies for clay artists. We will be selling all sorts of ceramic garden accessories and plants outside in the Gardens. The money raised will go towards Watershed's scholarship fund or towards the building of a new kiln shed.
New Additions
We are excited to introduce three very enthusiastic new additions to our team here at the Magic Gardens: Sarah Goggin, Todd Henkin and Kristine Del Rosso, who will be the new Garden keepers during the week and weekend. With all of this hustle and bustle we have decided to open the Gardens seven days a week from 11am to 6pm. Be sure to come in and visit us this season to meet our new staff and to experience the Gardens while still in bloom.
In a Dream
In a Dream, the documentary made by filmmaker Jeremiah Zagar examining the art and love story of his parents, Julia and Isaiah Zagar, sold out four screenings at the Philadelphia Film Festival and won both the jury award for Best First Film and the Dive Technical Achievement Award. Not to mention its success at SXSW and at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in North Carolina where it won the Charles E. Guggenheim Emerging Artist Award. Check out the film's website to see a trailer and learn more about the film: www.inadreammovie.com. It was a lot of fun while the film screened here in Philadelphia and we continue to reap benefits (visitors, press, acclaim oh my!) from its success. Kudos to Jeremiah!
We hope to see you soon!
