Summer Walking Tours
April through September
Saturdays 12:00pm and 4:00pm; Sundays 4:00pm

Enjoy an hour-long guided walk through South Philadelphia's side streets to view Isaiah Zagar's glittering creations! Led by a trained Philadelphia's Magic Gardens interpreter, you'll learn detailed information about Zagar's technique along with the personal and community stories depicted in his large, shimmering murals.

Walking tours are $10 for adults, $6 for children, and student group prices are available when scheduled in advance. Tour price includes all-day admission to PMG.
Instructional video for sale
Monumental Mosaics: The Isaiah Zagar Method is now for sale at Philadelphia's Magic Gardens and online. This step-by-step instructional video will teach you how to build a mosaic mural, from start to finish, using the method of renowned mosaicist Isaiah Zagar. From gathering the proper materials to polishing the finished product, this video will introduce you to the mosaic medium and prepare you to undertake a project of your own.

Arts on South

PMG has been selected to organize the second series of Arts on South, a program that loans unrented retail stores to local artists to showcase their artworks. In collaboration with the South Street Head House District, Arts on South will be revitalized, offering four gallery spaces that feature professional art exhibitions, completed by mid-July.

The first gallery participants are Dumpster Divers, Green Light Arts, HomeSkooled Gallery, and the Philadelphia Center for the Book. These collectives will exhibit a variety of artistic genres including sculpture, printmaking, painting, installation, photography, book arts, new media, and performance. Be sure to visit the "Fourth Friday" receptions and events on July 23!

PMG will partner with twelve students from the Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) to create the exciting new youth program, ArtWorks, to foster creative economy and civic engagement through Arts on South. The students will assist in the daily management of the galleries, receive lectures by arts professionals, and interact with local artists.
El Dia del Nino

In solidarity with August's "El Dia del Nino" (Children's Day) in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, PMG is throwing a family-friendly fiesta! Join us on Sunday, August 8 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm to celebrate the wonderful children in our lives. Break open a pinata, participate in multicultural crafts, and indulge in delicious Mexican treats, all in our magical mosaic labyrinth.

The Dia del Nino Celebration will include:
- A live performance from the Philadelphia Capoeira Arts Center
- Authentic refreshments from El Zarape restaurant
- Balloon animals and face-painting by Piripitin the Mexican clown
- English and Spanish tours featuring PMG's Latin American artwork
- Local artist vendors selling work ranging from Talavera ceramics to screenprinted clothing
- Mask and pinata-making art activities
- Fun for all ages from Fred the Magician
- Latin American and World dance beats provided by DJ Ross of Love
In partnership with Latino Community Center Casa Monarca, PMG is hosting this free fiesta to embrace the diverse Philadelphia population and honor the Latin American folk art embedded within its mosaiced walls.
