- ART/GAGE 2012 Call for Participants

Philadelphia's Magic Gardens (PMG) is excited to demonstrate its South Street pride with ART/GAGE: Celebrate Philly Creativity, PMG's fifth annual summer festival featuring music, dance, poetry, fire arts, interactive activities, and live art creation. ART/GAGE embodies PMG's spirit of civic and cultural engagement by bringing a citywide selection of creative talent to our neighborhood for our largest one-day event. Attended by over 2000 people, last year's music festival was hosted inside the expansive sculpture grounds and the fair occurred on the 1000 block of South Street.
Throughout the afternoon, this colorful block of South Street will house vendors, performers, participating community organizations, and a diverse audience, creating an exciting environment for a street fair. Over 40 art and food vendors, paired with performances and demonstrations from local organizations, will set the stage for positive community building experiences.
During the evening, ART/GAGE will transition from the street into the glittering walls and passageways of PMG. During the nighttime programs, music and dance performances, along with site-specific art installations, will complete the day. The 2011 ART/GAGE festival musical performances included jazz, hip-hop, blues rock, indie-rock, and African rhythms, demonstrating the wealth of diversity Philadelphia has to offer.

June 10, 2012
12:00pm
Sunday, June 10, 2012, Noon to 4:00 PM
We are celebrating the life and death of Antoni Gaudi (b.June 1852 - d. June 1926), the architect of the famous Sagrada Familia. Gaudi was inspired by nature to create organic forms made in a variety of Arts and Crafts media including wrought iron, mosaic and stained glass. Similarly, Isaiah Zagar makes his own colorful faux stained glass and grouted windows using a technique by Ricky Boscarino of Luna Parc. In June's Family Jam, we will create nature-inspired faux stained glass windows out of colored acetate, in the style of Gaudi and Zagar.
All Family Jam activities are FREE with admission and run from noon to 4:00 PM in Gallery Two. Join us for a free kids tour at 2:00 PM!
