Spend an enchanting evening at Twilight in the Gardens! Bring a blanket, snacks, and drinks to picnic in our space. This month we’ll have an improvisational live music and dance performance by Wind Music for Movement! Over at our craft tables join artist Soyan Unkow to make an Alphabet/Word Zentangle using paper and sharpies to create lines, patterns and shapes inside the letter or outside of the letter. If time allows you’re encouraged to do another design and a positive message for the children in Children Hospital Of Philadelphia!

You’ll also have the chance to learn more about Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens through fun, casual self-guided tours of our mosaicked basement, and can check out “In Unison: Ceramic Sculptures by George Rodriguez” in our galleries.

Tickets are available starting July 14. Space is limited and we recommend purchasing ahead of time.

ABOUT THE PERFORMERS:
Wind Music for Movement performs chamber music from a world in which every peasant is an internationalist queen. Drawing from the wellspring of Great Black Music, Judaica , German Romanticism, and Post-Tonality, they seek to rejoin improvised music and dance in a ritual of ruach, to transform their spirit and yours into a better being.

The practitioners of this medicine come from the practice rooms of conservatories, the ravaged wildlands of America, and the creative music community of Philadelphia. One year ago,  they converged at Headlong Dance Theatre to find out what would happen, and have taken a liking to this thing they do. They are unheralded, but don’t worry, they brought their own horns and they ain’t afraid to toot ‘em.

The group is comprised of Aaron Pond (Horn, Voice, Flutes, Percussion), Sonali Singh (Bassoon, voice and percussion), and Michnari Robinson (Tuba, Euphonium, Trombone, Trumpet). Due to a last minute change, Sheila Zagar will no longer be dancing with the group.

ABOUT THE TEACHING ARTIST:
Soyan Unkow is a public school art teacher in South Jersey and has been teaching for over 20 years. She has a masters in art education and has a love of teaching art at all levels, community, education, public forums etc. In her spare time she has a hobby farm with alpacas and loves to incorporate art, nature, and creating a positive environment  for all.
